The next Seattle SAGE meeting is Thursday, April 11th, 2002 at 7pm.
The UW Rosen/McWilliam Building facility is a secured building. So a

open the door for meeting attendees. After that a phone number will be
posted on the door for the SAGE meeting specifically. There is an
"internal extensions only phone" at the Republican Street entrance to

Short Bio:
Leeland Artra is the President of Hero Network. He is currently trying
to deny that he has long since moved into management roles and therefore
remains very active in all the technology and systems development
efforts. He is actively working to keep Hero Network's systems and
technologies at peek performance.
He is also actively involved with the International Systems
Administrators Guild and jumps at most opportunities to promote that
organisation. Leeland remains an ever vigilant information systems
researcher. He has personally designed and implemented a number of new
computer technologies. Currently Leeland's efforts are on creating a new
Java based Object Oriented database architecture to store, access, mine,
and analyze information to improve Hero Network's services.
Previously he was the Director of Computer Systems Technology for the
Cell System Initiative (CSI) at the University of Washington. CSI is a
combined biological research program and information systems research &
development program focused on bringing the power and technologies
available in today's computer industry to the biology research
laboratory environment. The primary goal of the information systems
research component of CSI is to develop an optimal computing environment
for collaborating, distributed groups of biologists.
Prior to that Leeland was the Senior Researcher for the Cellworks
Project at the University of Washington (CWP). The CWP has nearly the
same goals as CSI and at CWP Leeland was the inventor of numerous
database Java technologies. One of which was the Moulage System, which
was highly recognized as an important research step in data mining and
sharing. The Moulage System was nominated by Oracle for the Computer
World Smithsonian 1998 award and became one of the finalists for that
award. Leeland was also named an Oracle Futures Development Partner.
