       National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Position 
Title:       IT Specialist
Duty Station:    Western Administrative Support Center
       Systems Division

       Seattle, Washington 98115
Salary Range:    $48,600 - $81,000 /year


IT Specialist The individual selected for this full time position will 
be a member of a team
responsible for managing, administering, and supporting a variety of 
networked
computer systems including both Unix and Windows servers. The individual 
will
contribute in the responsibility of designing, implementing, and 
maintaining
the enterprise IT architecture and infrastructure. This will include, the
security and integrity of the LAN/WAN infrastructure as well as
troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving routine and complex hardware,
software, communications, and procedural problems related to network 
servers
and workstations. The duties of this position require practical 
knowledge of
and experience in,
* Enterprise data network infrastructure, network protocols, security, and
network services with Internet connectivity
* SUN / Unix server system administration in an enterprise environment
* Layer 2 and layer 3 switching and routing protocols
* IP address administration and domain management * Services, WWW, SMTP, 
IMAP, DNS, LDAP, and Microsoft Active Directory.

Specialized Experience: Administrating and supporting SUN Solaris or UNIX
server platforms in a multi-server, mirrored operating environment, Unix 
mail
servers, and large storage solutions either SAN or NAS. Installing,
expanding, monitoring and maintaining network servers, network security,
network connectivity, and networking equipment such as regular and switched
hubs, routers multiplexers, and /or CSU/DSUs. Providing training and 
support
to end users using Windows XP platforms, office suite packages, email, 
Internet
browsers, calendaring software and other desktop software.

Three main duties/responsibilities;
1.? Unix Server / Mail Server administration
2.? Network configuration, maintenance, and security
3.? Help Desk / Desktop support

campus
and borders the Sand Point - Warren G. Magnuson Park.
