Topic: "Managing 1500 workstations with cfengine
(or It's like UNIX, how hard can it be?)"
Presenter: Ski Kacoroski <kacoroski at comcast.net>
Location: Department of Electrical Engineering (EE1 Building)
University of Washington

Northshore had only limited, adhoc tools to manage its 5500 Mac
workstations which meant that many things did not get done (e.g.
changing of passwords or software installation). This talk will discuss
Northshore's CFEngine implementation and configuration. It will wrap up
with several lessons learned from managing and our plans for the next year.
Ski is currently Unix Admin at the Northshore School District responsible
for 75 Mac OSX, Sun, and Linux servers and trying to figure out how to
better manage 6000 Mac OSX workstations. When not working at Northshore,
Ski advises customers on technology issues as the owner of CCK Technology
and travels in his 1971 Cortez motorhome with his wife, two daughters,
2 cats, and dog.
This is FREE and open to the public and a wonderful opportunity.
The Seattle SAGE Group (SSG) is a local group for systems & network
administrators in the Seattle and Pacific northwest areas (North
Western Washington). We are a local chapter of SAGE, but SAGE / USENIX
membership is not a requirement. We sponsor a regular monthly meeting
open to the public on the second Thursday if each month at 7 p.m.
