The Sun Directory Server looks pretty good.
I'm doing some testing on it right now; so far the schema looks sane
and it has some very nice features. The directory editor leaves a
little to be desired, but there is an SDK for it that should be more
than powerful enough to build in the customizations I need. Except
that it's all Java and my Java is about as hot as a witches ...

Plus it's all free for download from sun.com; and Solaris looks very
powerful, if only it was a little easier to use I could become a
convert.
