Doesn't work well if you're responding point by point. Trying to divine
what example "your example" refers to hurts, especially when the poster
you're responding to had multiple examples. Quoting part of their text to
disambiguate inline and then leaving it quoted verbatim below seems silly.

I don't think it's a big deal, and I'll occassionally top-post myself
*iff* my response is to the entire gestalt of the mail and my point is
fairly short. If I'm responding to the gestalt of an entire thread, I
reply without including a quote at all....
