I setup Roaring Penguins Remind program last year for just this use.
Tossed an entry into cron for Monday morning for weekly reminders of
what is coming up.

The email is a simple text listing of events with the next up first.
There is a rem2html utility that will spit out an html calendar if you
so desire.

Everyone in my group likes it (or so they say).  Simple, multiple output
formats.  Works for me!
