A note on bacula, we ran into a problem with ~15 million files (~2TB) in 1
job. When doing a restore mysql took forever and a day to build the tree
for the restore. Our solutions was to break the job into 2 smaller jobs
with about ~7.5 million files each. Now it takes about 20 minutes to build
the tree during a restore. This is on a system with dual 2GHz Opterons and
2GB RAM.
