Global Energy Concepts are hiring an IT Manager for a Windows shop. Folks 
from my company play Ultimate Frisbee with their employees periodically 
and we do work with them occasionally. GEC seems like it would be a great 
place to work.


IT Manager - AD02
The IT Manager will oversee and manage the information technology systems 
of a rapidly growing firm including network operations; overall computer, 
server, portable computing devices, and procurements; and custom 
application development; in addition to managing IT technical staff and 
outside IT technical consultants. Specifically, the IT Manager will:


       Oversee network operations by managing in-house staff and outsourced 
server and network specialists.

       Manage the development of a custom database and associated 
application that is currently being developed by outside consultants. This 
application will form a mission-critical backbone to the organization.

       Oversee the creation and ongoing support of geographically remote 
branch offices and remote home and small office users.

       Manage the information technology department in accordance with 
organizational policies and goals.

       Ensure that the department as a whole maintains the proper 
functioning of company's information processing system and make upgrades 
as necessary.

       Help business operations utilize information systems to improve 

       Manage one existing full-time, in-house Help Desk technician, 
including prioritization of duties and coordination of activities with 
GEC’s outside IT Consultant.

       Manage GEC’s outside IT technical consultant. This contracted firm 
is tasked with all server and network operation, performance, upgrades, 
patching, and modification activities. This firm provides 24/7 server 
monitoring and support to GEC as part of their contract.

       Provide oversight, monitoring, planning, and direction of the IT 
Consultant’s activities combined with utilizing GEC’s internal 
capabilities to provide a robust and reliable work environment for GEC’s 
employees. GEC’s IT consultant has contractual obligations to meet 
specific response time requirements. The IT Manager will monitor 
performance and initiate corrective actions in the event support 
activities do not meet expectations.

       In the event of system issues or outages, communicate to GEC’s 
principals in a timely manner regarding status of the issues, estimated 
return-to-service time, and interim measures that ensure client and 
employee functionality.

       Manage GEC’s overall computer, server, portable computing devices, 
networks, external vendors, service providers, and procurements.

       Prepare annual budgets. Perform quarterly reporting regarding the IT 
system to GEC’s principals. Identify upcoming needs or industry changes 
that require migration planning.

       Ensure security of data on all servers, networks, workstations, and 
portable devices.

       Evaluate and ensure all backup and archive systems are functional 
and reliable.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of 
experience in the field or in a related area. MCSE, CCDA, CCDP, or 
equivalent broad-scope certification. The position will require extensive 
experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
