Sending an attachment in Word format to...various (mostly
Linux-centric) lists would seem like.... not a very good idea :)

Your comment motivated me to go back and reread Mohsen's orginal
message.  I, too, would be interested in any critique on the original
comments, especially with respect to risks inherent in a document
format.  Sure there have been DOC macro viruses but I don't have a
sense of just how specific they are to the format (and shortcomings
thereof).

On occasion I take the opportunity to encourage correspondents to send
stuff in more neutral format (though I would say that my comments are
not political but practical).  Mostly what I object to are folks
sending me stuff that assumes that I am happy to open up some
complicated application (MS-Office, OpenOffice, whatever) when a
simple text inclusion would have sufficed.
