I've followed Towerstream on a national basis for years now as a
writer specializing in Broadband Wireless Internet Access (which I'm
not doing much of any more).
Towerstream uses licensed, licensed-lite, and license-exempt spectrum
depending on the situation and requirements of the customer.
Generally, they're good and reliable. They don't lock you into service
contracts - you pay month to month.
The higher bandwidth (and more you pay) the more dedicated the
connected / spectrum / radios. They're pretty open and up front about
their technology - if you ask.
One of the best things about their service is if you need higher
bandwidth, within the tiers, they can upgrade you with a reprogramming
of the radio - takes a few minutes to change and reboot, then you're
running faster.
One downside; from what I've heard, there aren't any (or very few)
in-person salesfolk. The vast majority of their sales are run from a
boilerroom somewhere on the East Coast.
Thanks,
Steve Stroh
