[SASAG] Phone Systems

Not too long ago we began migrating our digital phone system to a VOIP
system from ShoreTel; my only regret is that we didn't go with a more
open vendor.

ShoreTel is easy to use and gives us most of the power we need to
manage our own phone system. But it is impossible to import or export
any data from it, centrally manage voicemail messages, or do any kind of
integration with other messaging systems (except, partially, MS
Exchange). Granted, that isn't any different than our old phone
system, but it sure doesn't help us with our integrated messaging
programs.

I've heard from others that Cisco has a pretty convincing solution,
and I've heard good (and bad) things about Asterix; but I haven't had
any experience with them.
