My real problem is not that a specific software vendor only supports a
specific version of an OS, although that is /a/ problem. (We had one
vendor that only supported RHEL, and actually didn't work on CentOS.
We still don't know how they managed that.) The problem is that there
are many open source products that expect you to be running a specific
OS and hard-code the application that way. Since they are open source
I can make it work, but it can be painful to install and upgrade these
applications.

I'm going to give Debian a chance; I just need to get over the idea
that an OS should be clean, efficient, and organized. (Honestly, what
kind of person puts executables in /usr/lib? /me cries a little
inside.)
