Yes, Exchange can accept email for multiple domains and the mail goes into the same mailbox. You also need to add the domain as an accepted domain in your hub transport configuration. To update the email addresses for all users (or even a well-defined subset), you can use e-mail address policies to automate it.

We are planing to shift from our old domain to a new domain for email.  I
assume Exchange 2007 can accept email for multiple domains, but I am
wondering if I can have users receive email for both domains by just adding
the additional address to their account? and if so, is their email stored
in separate mailboxes/store?  Sorry if the question seems scattered,  this
request was just presented to me and I haven't even had my first cup of
coffee :)

user1 at olddomain.com
user1 at newdomain.com
