Are you using the "External virtual networks" Virtual Network on the win
2008 server?
If so and assuming you have external (i.e. internet) connectivity from your
local network, can you ping an external host(e.g. 4.2.2.1)?
I'm not sure if this link is applicable for you,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816585(WS.10).aspx, but it may
help. I'm not familiar with the intricacies of the Windows VM platform, but
it looks like only the External network will allow connectivity outside the
Host(win 2008 server).
