Northshore School District has an opening for a System Administrator 
Intern to help with maintaining our IT systems including a VMware 
vSphere5 cluster, Equallogic SAN, EMC NAS, and over 160 Linux and 
Windows servers. This position is ideal for a science or technology 
student who is interested in system administration as a career and would 
like to gain job experience while in school.

The pay is between $10 - $11/hour with no benefits. There are 20 
hours/week available from September - June and 40 hours/week available 
during July and August. We require at least a 1 year time commitment 
with a 2 year commitment preferred.

As as intern you will be helping with:
• maintaining the server room including racking/un-racking servers, 
cable routing, tools, and labeling all equipment.
• patching and upgrading windows and linux servers
• assuring backups ran correctly and migrating archival backups to newer 
• maintaining the monitoring and logging systems
• maintaining documentation on servers and ip address assignments
• maintaining user accounts

The ideal candidate will have great troubleshooting skills, good oral 
and written communication skills, an attention to detail, and the desire 
to make sure tasks are done 'right'. They will have previous
experience with Linux and Windows and have written simple scripts or 
programs. They will be able to work 15 - 20 hours a week during the 
school year and 30 - 40 hours a week during the summer.
