Hi folks,
I ran into these folks at the Santa Clara Storage Developer's Conference
in September.
http://www.greenplatformcorp.com/
See the last few pages of
https://vishnu.fhcrc.org/conf/Storage-Developer-Conference-2011-skendric.pdf
for my write-up on their presentation.
Essentially, they build specialized cabinets which dampen the vibration
transmitted through the floor into your gear.
Dampening this vibration recovers IOPS from storage systems generally
lost to bumps -- in some circumstances, by a
factor of 2 or more. They see their product as useful for housing disk
arrays or HPC nodes (HPC nodes which
are using local spinning rust for scratch space).
They will be on-site here at the Hutch (South East Lake Union) from
1-3pm on Tuesday 12/13, answering our questions.
If you'd like to join us, drop me a note, and I'll arrange to meet you
in the lobby of the relevant building and card you up
to the conference room.
